Unrestricted Grant Request
The Skin of Color Society is a professional dermatologic organization established in 2004 that is dedicated to
promoting awareness of and excellence within the area of special interest of dermatology, skin of color. Individuals
with skin of color include but are not limited to African Americans, Asians, Hispanics or Latinos, Native Indians
and Pacific Islanders. The Society is committed to wide ranging educational and investigational pursuits designed to
impact individuals with skin of color and to ensure the success of dermatologist in serving these individuals.
Some of the signature programs of the Skin of Color Society include:
- Annual Skin of Color Society Scientific Symposium.
- Awarding of an investigator research grant to promote research within the field of skin of color.
- Website development with a patient education section and a physician only education section (http://www.skinofcolorsociety.org)
- English patient brochure development.
- Creation of a semi-annual Society publication to promote exchange of published information concerning skin of color.
Partnerships with professional medical organizations, community, corporate and industry groups will ensure our
